Photographing Route 66 with the new Fujifilm X100V

I recently had the chance to get my hands on the new Fujifilm X100V, a few days before I took off on a massive road trip from my home in Ontario, Canada, all the way to New Mexico. The trip totaled about 7000kms, and I stuck to Route 66 all the way from Chicago to New Mexico. I made this short film to document my experience using Fuji’s new camera to photograph locations alongside my Pentax 645N.

As a recent owner of a Fuji X100F, I can honestly say that I’ve fallen in love with these cameras. I haven’t shot digital for the last three years, but for me, what Fuji is doing is different. Not only do these cameras produce really nice looking images that are full of character, but they also do it in style. The X100 has brought a lot of the fun back to digital photography for me, with its film simulations and optical viewfinder. I won’t be abandoning film, but I’ll most definitely always be carrying the X100F with me wherever I go.
