A few weeks ago I was able to free up some time and figured I would plan a quick photography trip spanning a few nights. I had been exploring the Muskoka area all spring and figured it would be nice to maybe hop in the car, put on some miles and visit an area that I don’t get out to often. After a pretty busy winter I was looking forward to spending some quiet time by myself outside, it always allows me to rest my mind and reflect. Living in Southern Ontario I’m lucky enough to be surrounded by locations no matter which way you point on a map, and the great thing is that they all differ quite drastically from one another. Well, spring weather has arrived, even if just for a brief period of time! Spring is one of my favourite seasons, it’s a well needed period of change and new life. It brings those days where being outside in a t-shirt when it’s 10 degrees feels so right after toughing it through the long cold winter months. For myself, just being outside with the sun shining and the birds chirping brings a sense of peace and stirs up emotions Read more
I’m happy to announce that my image titled “Odds & Ends” has been selected as the image of the day on WhyTake.net! This image takes me back to the beginning of my photography career as I was just starting to experiment and craft my personal style. That particular night I headed out in hopes of a dramatic sunset that never showed up. The sky was pretty much clear and the overall scene didn’t have Read more
Sometimes during the winter months it can be tough to get motivated when you have week after week of grey, slushy, overcast days. In the warmer months when there is new life and everything is fresh and green it can be easier to get motivated and spot those “grand” landscapes. Earlier in my career I would find myself going out on trips in the winter on overcast days trying to find those same “grand” landscapes. Read more
Over the years as I have progressed in my photographic career the one thing that has changed quite drastically is the amount of time that I spend on an image from start to finish. So as I type this I’m getting ready to say goodbye to 2011 and hello to 2012. I’ve had a chance today while updating the site to reflect on how my photography career has evolved over the past 12 months. Like always it’s had it’s good times and tough times. Anytime you devote yourself to a creative process there are going to be days, even weeks that go by where you may just be burned out and things don’t seem to go as smooth Read more
So I’ve been on a bit of a hiatus from posting as for the past 2 weeks I’ve been consumed with a house sale and purchase. You really never realize how much stuff you have accumulated until you have to pack it away into boxes and move it all! Now that I’ve got settled in I’ve been able to get back to my photography. Whenever scouting locations I always bring a compass with me so I can determine exactly where the light Read more
Over the past few months I’ve been getting ready to launch my new website.
